Observance of the International Girl Child Day 2025 at JMJ Hospital, Bangalore

11 Oct, 2025

The International Girl Child Day was observed with great enthusiasm at JMJ hospital, Nagavara on October 11, 2025. The day was dedicated to recognize the strength, resilience, and potential of every girl and reaffirming our commitment to create a world where girls can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity. The event was systematically organized for the girl children of the doctors and staff of the hospital, highlighting both the challenges girls face and the power they possess to overcome them.

The celebration began with a warm welcome by the Administrator Sr. Elizabeth Rani K, followed by a prayer led by Sr. Reni. The prayer led us to intercede for a world free of discrimination and violence, where girls could live their dreams without fear. The prayer touched everyone deeply, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and hope. Following the prayer, Sr. Elizabeth welcomed Sr. Shyamala, the provincial councilor for a reflective session focusing on “The Importance of the Girl Child and What We Can Do.”

The reflection emphasized that investing in girls’ education and empowerment as one of the most effective ways to build a strong and equitable society. Educated girls grow into empowered women who contribute positively to their communities, lead with compassion, and inspire others.

The speaker highlighted key areas where everyone can take action:Educating girls: Ensuring equal access to quality education and encouraging girls to pursue careers of their choice, Supporting health and safety: Promoting awareness about physical and mental well-being and creating safe environments at home, school, and in the community, Encouraging leadership: Giving girls opportunities to speak, lead, and make decisions and Challenging stereotypes: Breaking down cultural barriers and gender biases that restrict a girl’s freedom or choices.

Through this reflection, participants were reminded that every small act — offering encouragement, providing opportunities, or simply listening — can help a girl realize her potential.

One of the most touching parts of the celebration was the creation of the “Inspiration Wall.” Staff of the hospital were invited to share their thoughts, wishes, and messages dedicated to girl children in the form of art, songs, poems, letters etc. The wall soon filled with colorful notes expressing admiration, pride, and love. Some of the emotional messages read:

“A girl child is not a burden but a blessing — the heartbeat of every home.”

“When you educate a girl, you empower a generation.”

“May every girl know her worth and never doubt her power.”

Staff members also shared stories of their lives, about a girl or woman who showed courage, determination, and kindness despite facing challenges. The Inspiration Wall became a symbol of hope and unity, reflecting the shared belief that every girl deserves respect and opportunity.

As the celebration came to an end, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude, inspiration, and renewed commitment. The event not only honored girls but also encouraged everyone present to advocate for their rights and well-being. As the participants departed, they carried with them a strong reminder — that each of us has the power and responsibility to create a world where girls can thrive, dream freely, and shape a better future for all.
