- In the year 1823, the Archpriests of Holland (Aartspriesters van Holland) approved the Regulations (the articles) of the Pédagogie Chrétienne, a foundation of religious women (sisters) who were involved in the upbringing and education of poor children. We established ourselves in Amersfoort at the Muurhuizen. From there we spread all over the Netherlands and also assumed the care for the sick and the elderly. As a religious institute, the Foundation has legal personality on the basis of the Dutch Civil Code.
- In order to carry out apostolic labours of love, including the religious and social upbringing of young persons, education, health care, care of the elderly and carrying out other social works that are demanded of the Congregation of Jesus, Mary, Joseph on the basis of the times and aim to serve the general interest of the world needs.
- Today the Holy Family Foundation of the Congregation of Jesus Mary Joseph is a member of VIVAT International which has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) and is associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications (DGC) because of its important work on behalf of children, youth, women and elderly, especially those who live in poverty and are affected by violence, abuse, discrimination, unemployment promoting an inclusive and sustainable development for the most marginalized and vulnerable worldwide.
