31 Mar, 2026

The Sambuli community, with a population of approximately 3,452 people, suffered from severe lack of access to clean and safe drinking water. Residents depended mainly on the Oti River, which was shared with livestock, leading to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as typhoid fever and gastroenteritis. The local Holy Cross Clinic and Maternity Home also faced serious water shortages, affecting healthcare services. The project involved the construction of a mechanized borehole to provide clean and safe drinking water to the community. The intervention included:Geological surveying and mapping,Borehole drilling and mechanization, Installation of a poly tank and Construction of a concrete water tower. Community members now have access to clean water for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene. The project has resulted in a reported 70% reduction in waterborne diseases and has significantly improved the functioning of the Holy Cross Clinic and Maternity Home.
