Lok Manch is a People’s Forum, a Jesuit initiative, was constituted in 2014 as a means of giving improved access to entitlements by capacitating community leaders and grass-root organizations with a focus on marginalized communities. The Lok Munch program is vast and big. We JMJs are involved in Bijapur mission where 10 religious congregations working in collaboration in the entire district of Bijapur, Karnataka.
The Vision of Lok Munch is to build an egalitarian, just, inclusive, democratic and secular society in India with a Mission to engage in social transformation through training, socially relevant research and policy engagement works aimed at integral development of the marginalized communities, particularly the Dalits, adivasis/tribals, OBCs, women, minorities, unorganized and landless laborers in partnership with like-minded groups, CSOs (Civil Society Organization), CBOs (Community Based Organizations), peoples’ movements, Human Rights organizations and ecological movements, nationally and internationally. The main Goal is that the marginalized groups receive the full state social benefits to which they are entitled and local, state and national level government institutions become more inclusive and democratic.
